Dainika mobile app
Privacy policy
Dainika is designed to work without collecting your personal information. This policy explains what the app stores, where it is kept and the choices you have.
Last updated .
In brief
- No account, advertising, analytics or tracking.
- Your calendar data is stored only on your device and is never sent to us.
- Location is optional and used only to calculate local times and dates.
- You can delete everything from within the app at any time.
This policy applies to the Dainika mobile app and to this website. Dainika is published by Mayurva, the publishing name of Dainika’s independent developer. Mayurva is not a registered company. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “Mayurva” refer to that developer, who is responsible for the app, this website and the limited personal information described below. You can reach us using the contact details at the end of this page.
Event organisers who use the partner portal should also read the separate partner portal privacy policy.
1. Information stored on your device
The app does not require an account and contains no advertising, analytics or tracking software, payments or cloud sync. It does not make network requests of its own, and the Android version does not request internet access. All calculations use data bundled with the app and work offline.
To provide its features, the app stores the following on your device only: your selected place (its name, coordinates and time zone); calendar, language and appearance settings; saved festivals and observances; Festival Mode choices and preparation checklists; and reminder settings. The observances you keep can be personal, so we want to be clear: this information is never sent to us, and we do not sell it, share it or use it for profiling.
2. Location
Location access is optional. You can instead choose your city from a list built into the app, without granting any permission.
If you choose to use your current location, the app asks your device for a single location reading while the app is open, and uses it only to calculate local sunrise, tithi and festival dates. On Android, it requests approximate location only. On iOS, it requests “While Using the App” permission at roughly one-kilometre accuracy.
The coordinates and your device’s time zone are saved on your device as your selected place. The app never tracks your location in the background and never sends it to us. You can change your place in the app, or withdraw permission in your device settings, at any time. Location services are provided by your device’s operating system and are subject to its provider’s privacy policy.
3. Reminders and widgets
Reminders are optional. They are scheduled on your device by its operating system; Dainika does not use a push-notification service. Depending on your notification settings, a reminder may show the name and date of an observance on your lock screen.
Home-screen widgets show calendar information for your selected place using a copy stored on your device. On iOS, the app shares this copy with its widget through an App Group, a storage area that stays on your device. Anyone who can see your screen may see widget and notification content, which you can control in your device settings.
4. Keeping and deleting your data
Your information stays on your device until you change or delete it. To delete it, open Settings > Privacy & local data > Clear my local data and confirm. This removes your saved festivals, checklists, settings and reminders and restores the default settings. Uninstalling the app also removes its data from your device.
Because we hold no copy of your app data, there is no account to close and nothing for us to delete on your behalf. Dainika does not provide its own backup service. Android backup is disabled for the app, although some Android device-to-device transfers may still copy its data. On iOS, app data may be included in iCloud or computer backups, depending on your settings. Clearing data in the app does not remove copies held in backups you control.
5. Children
Dainika does not ask for names, email addresses, ages or any other personal details, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
6. This website
When you visit this website, your browser sends standard technical information, such as your IP address, the page requested and browser details, to our hosting provider, Cloudflare. Cloudflare uses this information to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. This is necessary to run a secure website and is in our legitimate interest. Cloudflare may process this information in other countries, as described in the Cloudflare privacy policy.
The public pages of this website do not use cookies, analytics or advertising, and we do not keep our own visitor logs. The partner portal uses sign-in cookies and is covered by the partner portal privacy policy.
7. Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use them only to reply and to resolve your request, and we delete the correspondence once it is no longer needed for that purpose. Please do not include sensitive personal details unless they are necessary for your request.
8. Your rights
You can view, change and delete your app data directly in the app at any time. For information we hold about you, such as emails you have sent us, you may ask us to access, correct or delete it, or to restrict or object to how we use it. We aim to respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the updated version on this page and revise the date at the top. If a future version of the app handles personal information differently, we will update this policy before that version is released.
